About Us

Madhuvanthi Gurukul began humbly in 2009 with 4 students

Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi

Founded under the blessings and guidance of Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi, a distinguished Hindustani flautist whose artistry and wisdom have inspired generations of musicians, Madhuvanthi Gurukul has grown into a thriving musical community. Guided by his vision, Sri Giridhar Dodderi and Sri Harsha established the Gurukul with a profound dream: to create a space where music is not merely taught, but lived—in the authentic spirit of the ancient Gurukula tradition.

Our Philosophy

At Madhuvanthi Gurukul, learning the flute is approached as a sacred journey. Our emphasis extends beyond technical mastery to cultivate discipline, devotion, and emotional depth—the true essence of Hindustani classical music. We follow the time-honored Gurukula methodology, where the bond between Guru and Shishya (teacher and disciple) transcends conventional lessons, nurturing both musical excellence and holistic personal growth.

Our Journey

What began modestly with just four students has flourished into a vibrant musical community of over 600 trained disciples across 17 years. Each student receives personalized guidance in intricate ragas, taans, and alap-jod-jhala patterns, while simultaneously developing the sensitivity and reverence that classical music demands.

The Gurukul provides a nurturing environment designed to help learners gain confidence and invaluable stage experience. We foster focused practice, humility, and a lifelong appreciation for music—qualities that truly define an accomplished musician.

Our Leadership

Under the dedicated leadership of Sri Giridhar Dodderi, a B-Grade Artist at All India Radio and Sangeet Visharad Poorna (Pune Gandharva Mahavidyalaya) with distinction, alongside Sri Harsha, a disciple of Pandit Kiran Godkhindi and accomplished tabla master, Madhuvanthi Gurukul continues to carry forward the distinguished legacy of Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi with unwavering dedication and authenticity.

More Than a Music School

Madhuvanthi Gurukul is a living tradition—a sanctuary where the bamboo flute and tabla become bridges between discipline and divinity, and where every note echoes the timeless spirit of Indian classical music. We invite you to be part of this sacred musical lineage.

Guru's

Shri Giridhar Dodderi - Flute

Founder & Principal Flute Instructor, Madhuvanthi Gurukul

Sri Giridhar Dodderi is a devoted flautist, performer, and teacher who carries forward the rich tradition of Indian classical music through Madhuvanthi Gurukul. His journey embodies the timeless values of dedication, discipline, and the sacred bond between Guru and Shishya.

A Journey Rooted in Tradition

Born on July 14, 1979, in B. Dodderi, Sri Giridhar’s musical odyssey began at the age of twelve under the guidance of Shri Naveen Sharma in Sagara (1991–1999). His profound calling toward the flute led him to become a disciple of the legendary Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi in 1999—a relationship that would shape not only his artistry but his entire approach to life and music.

For fifteen years (1999–2014), Sri Giridhar immersed himself in the traditional Gurukula system, traveling weekly from his village to Bangalore to learn under his Guru’s direct observation. His days were marked by rigorous sadhana—10 to 12 hours of daily practice—through which he absorbed not merely the technique of flute playing, but the very essence of musical devotion. Under Pandit Godkhindi’s tutelage, he also mastered the intricate art of flute making, understanding the instrument from its soul to its physical form.

Founding Madhuvanthi Gurukul

Blessed and inspired by his Guru’s vision to propagate the Guru-Shishya parampara, Sri Giridhar founded Madhuvanthi Gurukul in 2009. What began as a humble endeavor with just four students has blossomed into a thriving institution that has nurtured over 600 students in the soulful art of flute playing. The Gurukul stands as a testament to his commitment to creating a traditional, disciplined learning environment where music is taught not as a skill, but as a way of life.

Academic Excellence & Artistic Recognition

Sri Giridhar holds a B.Com degree and earned his Sangeet Visharad Poorna from Pune Gandharva Mahavidyalaya with distinction, reflecting his dedication to both formal education and classical musical scholarship.

As a performer, he has presented over 200 solo concerts across various platforms and holds the prestigious distinction of being a B-Grade Artist with All India Radio (Akashvani). Since 2007, he has served as a flute tutor at Deccan International School, where he continues to inspire young minds to explore the depths of Indian classical music.

Beyond Music

A multifaceted artist, Sri Giridhar is also a skilled close-up magician and has a deep passion for drawing and painting. These artistic pursuits complement his musical expression, revealing a creative spirit that finds beauty in multiple forms.

True to his Guru’s teachings, he follows a complete discipline—honoring every aspect of his musical heritage from performance artistry to the meticulous craftsmanship of flute construction.
